SDG Open Hack! <\/strong>is an initiative born in 2019 from a unique partnership of Universities of Geneva<\/a> and Tsinghua<\/a> and UNITAR<\/a>. It was inspired by its sister event Open Geneva<\/a> held in Geneva, Switzerland, in March every year, which is a spin-off of the Geneva Tsinghua Initiative<\/a>\u00a0and Citizen Cyberlab<\/a>.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.8.1″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” custom_padding=”2px|0px|25px|0px|false|false” hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.25″ custom_padding=”|||” custom_padding__hover=”|||”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.8.1″ hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″]<\/p>\n SDG Open Hack!<\/strong> hosted 500 participants, including students, engineers, professionals, academics, policymakers, impact investors & business angels, who tackled x key SDGs challenges over a hackathon weekend at the Tsinghua University campus in Beijing.<\/p>\n In combination with\u00a0SDG Open Hack!<\/strong>,\u00a0the first one-week long Tsinghua SDG Innovation Bootcamp<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0was held from 25 November to 1 December 2019.\u00a0The 2020 edition of the SDG Open Hack ! took place on the 28th – 29th November hosting 19 hacks!<\/p>\n For more information:\u00a0info@gt-initiative.org<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.25″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.25″ custom_padding=”|||” custom_padding__hover=”|||”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.27.4″]<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=”1_4,3_4″ _builder_version=”3.25″][et_pb_column type=”1_4″ _builder_version=”3.25″ custom_padding=”|||” custom_padding__hover=”|||”][et_pb_image src=”http:\/\/gt-initiative.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/WechatIMG123.png” align_tablet=”center” align_phone=”” align_last_edited=”on|desktop” _builder_version=”3.23″] For students who are shouldering the mission to change the world for the better, it\u2019s not enough for them to understand the concept of SDGs. They need to take real actions, applying science and technology across disciplines, innovating by exploring sustainable development models, and identifying real world problems they can tackle. It creates an opportunity for students with different expertise and cultural backgrounds to leverage resources beyond their disciplines and to iterate practical solutions through design sprints and fast-prototyping. With the ongoing support from institutions such as x-lab and iCenter, “SDG Open Hack!” can empower hundreds of students at Tsinghua to become social and environmental entrepreneurs.
