It is also the European headquarters of the United Nations. The presence of these international organizations made Geneva a recognized centre of expertise in the areas of peace, security and disarmament, humanitarian affairs, migration and labour, economics and trade, science and telecommunications, health, environment and sustainable development.

This year’s research topics focused on the automation of work and its impact on future job prospects; the Central African Forest Initiative promoting the sustainable use of natural resources; the potential of green infrastructure on poverty alleviation and social inclusion; the humanitarian-development nexus and its relationship to sustainable recovery processes; and the health challenges in villages in Oyam, Uganda.

In 2018, students worked on two projects. One was dedicated to developing a mobile app to help farmers in rural Kenya to better cope with extreme climate events. The other studied the Indonesian platform workers of Go-Jek and came out with a set of policy recommendations and a short movie to raise awareness on issues faced by those workers.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”http://0h51ctlnv.preview.infomaniak.website/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/projet_Kenya.jpg” _builder_version=”3.18.7″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_3″ _builder_version=”3.18.7″ parallax=”off” parallax_method=”on”][et_pb_accordion _builder_version=”3.18.7″ link_option_url=”http://www.geneve-int.ch/”][et_pb_accordion_item title=”Getting to know Geneva” open=”on” _builder_version=”3.18.7″ title_text_shadow_horizontal_length=”0em” title_text_shadow_vertical_length=”0em” title_text_shadow_blur_strength=”0em” body_text_shadow_horizontal_length=”0em” body_text_shadow_vertical_length=”0em” body_text_shadow_blur_strength=”0em” link_option_url=”http://www.geneve-int.ch/” link_option_url_new_window=”on”]

[/et_pb_accordion_item][/et_pb_accordion][et_pb_accordion _builder_version=”3.18.7″][et_pb_accordion_item title=”Following up with news at UNOG” open=”on” _builder_version=”3.18.7″ title_text_shadow_horizontal_length=”0em” title_text_shadow_vertical_length=”0em” title_text_shadow_blur_strength=”0em” body_text_shadow_horizontal_length=”0em” body_text_shadow_vertical_length=”0em” body_text_shadow_blur_strength=”0em” link_option_url=”https://www.unog.ch/” link_option_url_new_window=”on”]

[/et_pb_accordion_item][/et_pb_accordion][et_pb_gallery gallery_ids=”30124,30125,28952,29859″ show_title_and_caption=”off” _builder_version=”3.18.7″ title_font=”||||||||” title_font_size=”13px”][/et_pb_gallery][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

[et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ _builder_version=”3.18.7″][et_pb_row _builder_version=”3.18.7″][et_pb_column type=”2_3″ _builder_version=”3.18.7″ parallax=”off” parallax_method=”on”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.18.7″] The Geneva Tsinghua Initiative and International Geneva Home to 37 international institutions, approximately 400 NGOs and 176 permanent representations of member states to the United Nations (UN), Geneva is the most active centre of global governance in the world.
